Many people died in china because the opium. The drug was so powerful and addictive that even some children and people over the age of 80 were addicted to this drug.

Opium wars Imperialism of China
The "opium wars" was between Great Britain and China. The Chinese went to war with the Britain's because they would not stop sending opium to china. The people of china became addicted to the drug and pretty much was there downfall. Britain was making a fortune off of china because of this addicting drug. The chinese demanded that they stop sending opium to their country and they refused to stop because of the money. So, China stopped trading tea too Great Britain and went to war with them. This war was called the "Opium wars".
